Businesses often have employees constantly using files during backup windows, sometimes leaving them open by accident. The open file backup technology is designed to backup files that are in use by another application, regardless of the type of file. This ensures that all files get backed up every time, accurately and are ready for restore if you need them.
Nordic Backup leverages Microsoft’s Volume Shadow copy Service, or VSS, to take an image of a file then backup the read-only temporary copy. Using this engine ensures that Nordic Backup can access every file and secure good copies every time. It also allows us to secure large files that may be used by another program at the time of the backup i.e Outlook pst.
